Some more details about our church

What is distinctive about Holy Trinity Church?

First of all we are a Christian church

We believe that Jesus is very good news indeed, and that following him is the best (and hardest) decision you can ever make.

There are some great introductory resources out there.
Here are a couple:

Second, we are an evangelical church

We believe what the Bible says about people, about God, about the Bible and about how we can come to know God. As a church we subscribe to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith, which is a really good summary of this.

because we believe the Bible, we believe what is in keeping with the Bible, including the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed.

Third, we are an anglican Church

That means

  • we are the parish church for Old Hill:  We have a particular responsibility to share the good news of Jesus in the area of Old Hill;
  • we are part of the Church of England, Worcester Diocese:  We seek to be a shining light for the good news in the mess and confusion of the Church of England, engaging constructively in Worcester Diocese.
  • we are part of the wider Anglican communion: We stand with the majority of faithful Anglicans worldwide by seeking to uphold the 14 tenets of the Jerusalem Declaration. gafcon-logo-global-anglicans

How that works itself out in our history

Holy Trinity was founded in 1876 as a distinctly protestant church, when the local parish church of St Luke's began to be influenced by the Oxford Movement.  Our building was opened in 1876 with commemorative medals embossed with the words:

"being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3:34"

From the first opening of the building we have sought to be faithful to the whole of the Bible as the word of God, invite all people to come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, and serve our community of Old Hill.

By God's grace, we continue to do just that, and we invite you to join us as we find hope and love together in Jesus.
